The Cubs were finally able to unload Milton Bradley. In return they got probably the worst pitcher in baseball in Silva. He was 5-18 in two seasons with Seattle. Silva has injury problems and almost no chance of contributing to the Cubs. Money was also exchanged to make up for the difference in salary. The Cubs would have been better off just cutting Bradley. But that would have meant that Hendry would have to admit he paid $30 million dollars to Bradley for 1 season and his meager 40 rbi. By trading him away it at least appears like they did not have to eat his entire contract. Hopefully the Cubs will be so desperate they do actually have to use Silva.
