Despite having a huge payroll and several well known players this Cub's team is easily the most boring and least watchable Cub's team in decades. Gone are the days of Sammy Sosa, I could not stand him, he was the most selfish player ever, clubhouse guys said that he was always in a good mood whenever he hit a home run even if the Cubs lost the game, but he made it interesting. Grace was not only a good player but he was a fun everyman guy. He would hangout at bars after games and suck down beers and cigarettes. Even if you did not like the Cubs you had to like Grace. The 80's were the days of Harry Carey, WGN and the funniest group of players ever put together. Guys like the Sarge, the Bull, Moreland, Dunston and Jodi Davis played hard, never complained and had fun at Wrigley.
Now they have no one with the talent to make you sit in your seat and wait for them to bat before you go spend another $6.50 on a warm Bud. The Cardinals with Pujols and Ankiel and the Brewers with Braun and Fielder have that, the Cubs do not. Two years ago Soriano with his 40/40 potential was worth watching, but now he is washed up, can not steal, can not hit and only plays because the Cubs are too embarrassed to bench a guy making $18 million a season. Lee is a good all around player. But who can get excited to see the N.L.'s 7th best 1st basemen. The only reason to watch the Cubs is too see Soriano play left field and to hope Bradley does something stupid again. Of course you still get to pay double or triple what you did 10 years ago despite the lack of quality to watch. I suppose it does not matter given the fact that no one at Wrigley actually watches the game anyway.
