MLB and all-star coach Charlie Manuel because of MLB rules which state all teams must have a player on the all-star team are stuck taking an undeserving slug from the Cubs. A $140 million payroll and countless players making over $10 million a year and they do not have a single player deserving of being an all-star. There is no position player on the Cubs that is by any stretch of the imagination deserving of making the team. The leading candidates would be Lee and his 7HR and 27rbi who is at best the 6th best first baseman in the N.L.and Soriano who does has 14 HR but is hitting only .229. The Cubs have had some good pitching but no one is currently all-star worthy. The leading candidate would have to be Lilly and his 7-4 record and his era of 2.94. The always overrated Zambrano has only 4 wins and Dempster has not been able to follow up his strong 2008 season.
