The Cub's bats final awoke from their slumber for a 2 run outburst in today's game against the Padres. Unfortunately for the Cubs a poor pitching performance by Lilly wasted their best offensive output of their 6 game road trip. Lou Piniella seems at a loss of what to do. It is puzzling how a team built around selfish one dimensional players who hack away at the first pitch they see and try to hit a home run every at bat could struggle offensively. It may have something to do with Hendry building a high payroll team with only 1 real power hitter, who has a history of struggling with injuries.
