The Cubs unloaded what they once thought was a promising young pitcher in Rich Hill. He had a decent 2007, 11-8 and 3.92. But his only good pitch was a big sweeping curve ball which he threw the same every time. He has a below average fastball with no movement. And he did not have a single pitch he could start in the zone and get hitters to chase when it moved out of the strike zone. His success was limited by the fact that player in the NL Central got to face him several times and they adjusted to his gimmick pitch. Why the Cub's brass thought a pitcher with such a limited repertoire would be a successful starter is testament to their lack of vision and ability to judge talent. Maybe as a reliever with limited exposure he can be successful. he was shelled in Venezuela this winter and was basically given to the Orioles for nothing unless he can some how get to the majors.
